Greetings Arents Family Dentistry patients,

The office was closed on Thursday and Friday of  this past week , but will reopen with our regular office hours on Monday.
We want to reassure our patients that we are keeping up to date with the most recent recommendations of the ADA and CDC to protect both patients and dental health care personnel.
All of the CDC’s current recommendations for sterilization, cleaning and disinfection in the office have been part of our routine adherence to standard precaution protocol for years. This standard includes use of EPA registered products which are are effective against a mutitude of bacteria and viruses. The products we use are effective against Coronavirus( including the Coronavirus that causes COVID -19. Coronaviruses are enveloped viruses, meaning they are one of the easiest types of viruses to kill with the appropriate disinfectant product on surfaces.

In addition to adhering to standard precautions, the doctors have decided to also implement additional recommendations of the CDC to further prevent transmission of COVID-19 in the office these include the following measures:

Effective this week patients will be asked upon arrival if the patient has traveled internationally in the last 14 days or has been in close contact with another person who has been diagnosed with or under investigation for COVID-19, and whether the patient has a cough, fever or shortness of breath.

We will be taking the temperatures of all patients before the exam is begun by the dentist or hygienist.

Any patient w/ an above normal temperature will be asked to reschedule in 30 days as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of COV19 and other respiratory illness.

We will be asking all patients to  rinse with 1% hydrogen peroxide rinse we will be providing before each appointment. Coronavirus is vulnerable to oxidation; this will reduce the salivary load of oral microbes.

The CDC recommends using “social distancing” whenever possible as an effective way of decreasing the likelihood of transmitting coronavirus. With that advice in mind we :
•       are asking patients to arrive on time for their appointments, rather than too early, since that will minimize the amount of time they spend in the reception area
•       have removed magazines, reading materials, toys and other objects that may be touched by others and which are not easily disinfected( sorry this includes our coffee bar too for now)

Thank you for your cooperation.
